Local Baltimore Music: Crack the Sky

Crack the Sky is not from Baltimore but if you are of a certain age and from Baltimore then chances are you have a devotion to Crack the Sky that knows no bounds.

Their debut album came out in 1975 and it looked like they were poised to make it nationally. Basically through a series of snafu’s in places where their songs were getting radio play the record stores didn’t get any album stock in and in the places where the record stores were carrying the album they didn’t get airplay. Except in Baltimore. Baltimore was the only place where the two things happened at the same time.

And they were fucking huge for YEARS. Probably one of the biggest draws in the area for years.

And one of their bigger hits from a later album

Local Baltimore Music: The Bellevederes

Remember all those people in that picture on the post featuring Bosley? Those are The Bellevederes, Bosley’s backing band and rightful soul dynamos all on their ownsome. The Belles are like Baltimore’s version of the Dap Kings. They got your back but the uncut stuff is just them.

They don’t have an album out but here’s some audio.
